RSCUAA 2024 Chess Tournament: NISU Blue Marlins Tumulak ng Piyesa, Isa Tungo NSCUAA
 
 
 
Siguradong pagtasa sa piyesa at maingat na pagsulong ng matalas na estratehiya ang pinairal ng NISU Blue Marlins Chess Men at Women upang makupo ang mga medalya at isang manlalaro ang naitulak tungo sa National SCUAA matapos bumida sa RSCUAA 2024 Sports and Conference Chess Tournament, ISUFST Main Poblacion Library, Disyembre 18.
 
Nakamit ni Jonhzel Suerte (NISU Sara) ang pilak sa Board 1 matapos pumirmi sa ikalawang pwesto, daan tungo sa kwalipikasyon niya para sa NSCUAA.
 
Sa kabuuan, ang Men's Division ng koponan ay nakamit ang pilak na medalya, nakuha ni Robert Benedict Lucio (NISU Main) ang pilak na pwesto sa Board 3, at si Giro Louie Batan (NISU Batad) ang nangibabaw bilang kampyeon sa Board 5 (reserved). Sa kabila ng kanilang pagsusumikap, ang ISAT-U TechnoBees ang nakakuha ng gintong pwesto sa kategorya at nakuha naman ng UPV Fighting Maroons ang tanso.
 
Sa Women's Division, ipinakita ng NISU ang kanilang kahusayan sa pangunguna ni Ed-lyn Toledo (NISU Main) na nag-uwi ng gintong medalya bilang kampyeon sa Board 3, habang si Khately Fernandez (NISU Main) naman ang nakakuha ng pilak na medalya bilang manlalarong nakamit ang ikalawang pwesto sa Board 4. Matapos ang labanan, ISAT-U TechnoBees ang nakakuha ng ginto at UPV Fighting Maroons naman sa pilak, at SUNN Rays naman sa tansong medalya.
 
Sa isang panayam, ibinahagi ng mga manlalaro ang kanilang mga sikreto sa tagumpay—hindi matinag na pokus, disiplina, at maayos na paghahanda.
 
"Wala gid ko naghatag kumpiyansa sa akon kontra. Padayon nga disiplina asta matapos ang tanan hampang. Ang akon preparasyon for NSCUAA, padayon lng nga focus kag disiplina sa training," saad ni Suerte.
 
Binibigyang-diin naman ni Ed-lyn Toledo ang kahalagahan ng pananampalataya at mental na kahandaan: "First, always pray before the game, win or lose never forget to thank God after the game. Next, you need to Focus, analyze and discipline yourself throughout the game. Lastly, believe in yourself and in your capabilities, just push and checkmate."
 
Dala ang pag-asang mas mapapaganda pa ang kanilang laro sa iba’t ibang entablado ng chess, ang koponan ay patuloy na magsasanay para sa mga laro sa hinaharap.
 
 

 

Northern Iloilo State University is deeply mournful of the passing of Dr. Zinnia Parcon Teruel, former Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI and former Board of Trustee Member of the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (now NISU). Her loss leaves an immense void in the hearts of all who had the honor of working with her, and her remarkable contributions to both science and education will be forever remembered.
Throughout her career, Dr. Teruel was a visionary, dedicating her efforts to advancing science, technology, and education in the region. Her impact also extended to higher education, where, as a member of the NIPSC Board of Trustees, she played an instrumental role in shaping the future of the institution. Her legacy continues to inspire and guide future generations of students, faculty, and staff.
During this time of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her presence. Her kindness, selflessness, and ability to inspire others forged enduring relationships with all who were fortunate to know her. While Dr. Teruel may no longer be with us, her legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted and the lasting difference she made in her community, her country, and the fields of science and education.
May her soul rest in peace. Her leadership, dedication, and compassion will always be cherished, and she will be deeply missed.
