During the closing ceremony of the Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) 2024, Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) officially accepted the responsibility of hosting the RSCUAA 2025 held at the Tamasak Arena, Barotac Nuevo, on December 20.

During the program, a ceremonial turning over of the SCUAA banner was held, signifying the commitment of NISU to hold the annual sports festival and conference in Western Visayas next year.

“In behalf of Northern Iloilo State University, it is with great honor and pride that we accept the responsibility of hosting the RSCUAA 2025. This is not just an opportunity but a privilege to continue the legacy of excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie that defines this remarkable event,” said Dr. Bobby D. Furthermore, he also highlighted that hosting this event demands collective efforts, stating that NISU is ready to welcome participating universities in the region.

Northern Iloilo State University is deeply mournful of the passing of Dr. Zinnia Parcon Teruel, former Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI and former Board of Trustee Member of the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College (now NISU). Her loss leaves an immense void in the hearts of all who had the honor of working with her, and her remarkable contributions to both science and education will be forever remembered.
Throughout her career, Dr. Teruel was a visionary, dedicating her efforts to advancing science, technology, and education in the region. Her impact also extended to higher education, where, as a member of the NIPSC Board of Trustees, she played an instrumental role in shaping the future of the institution. Her legacy continues to inspire and guide future generations of students, faculty, and staff.
During this time of sorrow, we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by her presence. Her kindness, selflessness, and ability to inspire others forged enduring relationships with all who were fortunate to know her. While Dr. Teruel may no longer be with us, her legacy will live on through the countless lives she impacted and the lasting difference she made in her community, her country, and the fields of science and education.
May her soul rest in peace. Her leadership, dedication, and compassion will always be cherished, and she will be deeply missed.
